CEEP The Christ Episcopal Community Educational Enrichment Program (CEEP) A summer outreach ministry to children in our community who are moving into grades 3-6. It helps prepare them for the challenge of 4th grade and upper grades and level the playing field in education. Opportunities to serve include: Monthly service dinner in the back yard of struggling families to help and resource them, meal delivery service for the food insecure, baking, cooking or donating to the meal service, helping fix homes in poor repair, planning a community garden. FOSTER CHILDREN
JAMES SAMARATIN* We mobilize and equip local communities to meet the critical needs of our foster care and transitional youth, right where they are. We are creating a culture where our most invisible and vulnerable are better supported and empowered. We inspire others to serve youth and families in foster care.
KINDNESS FOR EVERYBODY Local teen-created and run mission that funds foster kids to participate in extras that we all take for granted such as class trips, extracurriculars, sports and other enrichment activities. SOUTHEAST LEGAL SERVICES* Mission: To achieve justice for low-income people in Louisiana by enforcing and defending their legal rights through civil legal aid, advocacy, and community education. Vision: A society in which equal justice for all is a reality. You DO NOT have to be a lawyer to assist in this program but if you are a lawyer, we welcome your help. CHILDREN’S COUNSEL LEGAL GROUP* This brand-new organization is partnered with the Louisiana Supreme Court to recruit and train volunteer attorneys to represent children in foster care from the day they enter the system and for a period of at least one year. This program seeks to not only give children a voice in court, but also help direct them to needed services and solutions by having a trusted, well trained attorney on their side when no one else is. Attorneys will keep these kids out of group homes, advocate for mental health and educational services, call in CASA when needed and be a watchdog for children’s’ rights under the law. Organization needs help raising FUNDS to cover their start-up costs to move forward with this mission (Secretary of State and tax-filing fees, creating a website, printing training materials).
