CHRIST EPISCOPAL SCHOOL

Spearheaded by a group of parents who attended Christ Church, Christ Episcopal School opened in 1984 with 34 students in grades 1-4. Since then, Christ Episcopal School has grown considerably; a second campus was opened adjacent to Christwood in 1997. As a co-educational college preparatory day school with over 600 students, Christ Episcopal School continues to serve as a mission and ministry of the church. The Christwood Boulevard Campus (CBC) houses grades 1 through 12, while the Pre-K and Kindergarten classes, the Early Childhood Campus (ECC), remain on the campus of Christ Church.

CHRISTWOOD

Before the extreme growth of the Northshore population, long-time members of Christ Church expressed the need for a local retirement community. After much research and hard work, the continuing care retirement community (CCRC) named Christwood was created, founded, and funded by Christ Episcopal Church. Site work was begun in 1994 and Christwood opened in 1996 with independent living apartments, assisted living units and skilled nursing units. Since then, individual cottages have been constructed, as well as an additional apartment building and a community center which is a hub for fitness, wellness and educational programs, social activities, healthy dining and pampering. Christ Church offers pastoral care and a weekly Eucharist to residents at Christwood. Vestry members serve a dual role as members of the Christwood nonprofit corporation.
