The next Evensong will be on the Feast of the Annunciation, Wednesday, March 25th at 6 pm in the church. Evensong will be the Wednesday formation offering that evening.

What is Evensong?

“It is a foretaste of heaven. Evensong is like a wonderful painting by a master artist. It is the Word of God set in a frame of beautiful poetry and glorious music. It is prayer and contemplation; joy and hope; peace and comfort. Evensong is the Anglican version of Evening Prayer, or Vespers. It is a distinctly Anglican tradition, with glorious music written over the centuries specifically for it. Our Book of Common Prayer has remarkably beautiful language, but the prayers for Evensong may be the most beautiful of all. The Choir sings the psalms in the beautiful four-part harmony of Anglican Chant; the Magnificat (Song of Mary) and the Nunc Dimitis (Song of Simeon) in settings by great English cathedral composers; and choral Amens after the Collects.
