Sunday Adult Formation – new session begins on November 3

Join us on in the parlor from 8:50 – 9:50 on 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, and 11/24 to explore how monastery life can apply to those who don’t live in a cloister. We will read Domestic Monastery: Creating Spiritual Life at Home by Ronald Rolheiser.
What is a monastery? A monastery is a place set apart—a place to learn the blessings of powerlessness, and that time is not ours but God’s. Our home and our duties can, just like a monastery, teach us those things. The vocation of monastic men and women is to physically withdraw from the world to provide for contemplation and reflection. But the principle is equally valid for those of us who cannot go off to monasteries — we too can find spiritual peace and grace at home. Someone said that this book is “A dose of grace for parents”.
Wednesday Adult Formation – Lectio Divina begins November 13
On 11/13 and 11/20, Fr. G will lead the Wednesday formation group into two sessions of Lectio Divina. What is Lectio Divina?
Lectio Divina is a Christian practice of praying with the Bible that involves reading (Lectio), meditating (Meditatio), contemplating (Contemplatio), and praying (Oratio). It is a way to draw closer to God by allowing the Holy Spirit to open our hearts to God’s presence and message. Bring your Bible and join us at 6pm for two contemplative evenings as we rest in and with God’s Word.
