Sunday Adult Formation
Beginning January 19, we will study the book Everything Belongs: The Gift of Contemplative Prayer by Fr. Richard Rohr. The book is available through Amazon. This is one of the most popular and best-known books written by Richard Rohr and offers us the belief that we have no real access to who we really are except in God. Only when we rest in God can we find the safety, the spaciousness, and the scary freedom to be who we are, all that we are, more than we are, and less than we are. Only when we live and see through God can “everything belong.”
Wednesday Adult Formation
Heresies and Heretics: God’s Gift to the Church. Usually we think of heresy as a bad thing. Yet, the Nicene Creed that we confess each Sunday is formed through challenges made by many, later deemed “heretics,” who considered themselves steadfast in their own understandings of the Christian faith. In this four week study, led by Dr. Elizabeth Goodine, we’ll explore the why behind the words we confess in the creed looking especially at who God is, who Jesus is, and more. This class begins January 15th and meets at 6 pm in the parish hall.
