Joe Krown on piano will close out Third Sunday Concert season on May 19

Joe Krown, noted New Orleans-style pianist and Hammond B-3 organ player, will close out the 2023-24 season of Third Sunday Concerts at Christ Episcopal Church, Covington, on Sunday, May 19. The concert will be staged in the church, beginning at 5 p.m. (doors open at 4:30 p.m.).
Krown is a multi-time winner of a New Orleans Big Easy Award and, in April 2014, was honored with a Piano Legacy Award, presented by the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra for being a “Master of Piano.” He has toured the world with the chart-topping Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band and, with Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, has opened for an Eric Clapton world tour.
Titled “An Intimate Evening with Joe Krown at the Piano,” the concert will feature some of his original songs and selections, including James Booker’s “Classified” and Dr. John’s “Such a Night,” from Krown’s latest CD, “Tribute,” which pays homage to the people that influenced his life and art.
The Third Sunday Concert Series, now in its 33rd year, is an outreach of Christ Episcopal Church, Covington. The one-hour concerts are held monthly from September through May. They are free and open to the public and are followed by a reception in the Parish Hall for the performers and audience.
The 2024-2025 Third Sunday Concert Series will kick off on Sunday, Sept. 15.
Christ Episcopal Church is located at 120 S. New Hampshire, near the Covington downtown area and just before the entrance to Bogue Falaya Park. The handicap accessible entrance to the sanctuary is located on the park side of the main church.
