The Third Sunday Concert Series at Christ Episcopal Church in Covington will host singer/songwriter and pastor Crispin Schroeder on Sunday, November 19 at 5 p.m. Doors open at 4:30.

Crispin is the pastor of Northshore Vineyard Church in Covington. Though faith is central to everything Crispin does, he is just as at home singing in a club on Saturday night as he is singing gospel songs on a Sunday morning. He is a self-taught pianist who began at an early age, noticing the pentatonic scale, which is the foundation of blues music, at age 12 and recording his first blues song in a studio in Denver at age 14. From then on he was hooked on writing songs and recording. He played keyboard for blues bands in the Midland/Odessa Texas area before moving to Southeastern Louisiana when he was 21 which impacted him as a musician and songwriter.

In the 20 plus years Crispin has resided here, he has recorded nine albums both as a solo artist and with bands he has led. His most recent release is "Following Branches Down to the Roots" (April 2016), a collection of songs that are musically very much rooted in the blues, folk, gospel, and Zydeco sounds of South Louisiana with lyrics that explore longing, doubts, faith and spirituality.

All concerts in the Third Sunday Concert Series begin at 5 p.m. (doors open at 4:30), last approximately one hour, are free and open to the public, and are followed by a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception where the audience may meet the performers. Christ Church is located at 120 S. New Hampshire Street, Covington, at the entrance to Bogue Falaya Park.
